One Week…

Well it has been a week since Macy joined our family. So far things are going really great. We are just adjusting to having a new baby in our house and trying to get Ellie to like her little sister. :) Here are some pictures from the last week.

My dad and Dawn made this beautiful cradle for us. I absolutely love it and love that all my babies will get to sleep in this.

Anyway, sorry for the picture overload, but Macy changes so much everyday!

She’s TWO

Ellie turned TWO on Friday!! I can’t believe that my little girl is two! She all of the sudden seems huge to me (maybe because Macy is so little?). Here are some pictures from her birthday. We celebrated on the 7th since I knew I would be in the hospital for her actual birthday.

Ellie's Birthday 008 Ellie's Birthday 011 This girl definitely likes to be clean. We tried to get her to dig in to her cupcake, but she would only use her one finger.

Ellie's Birthday 016 I hate this picture because I look ENORMOUS (it was 2 days before I delivered okay), but I had to get a family pic with her new bike that we bought for her birthday.

Here are pictures from her actual birthday. I love these pictures because Greg did Ellie’s hair since I was in the hospital. I don’t think I need to say any more. Bless his heart…

Macy Kaye Andersen

Miss Macy is here!! We couldn’t be more excited to have her. I had a scheduled c-section yesterday, which was actually quite anti-climatic compared to Ellie’s birth. It was nice to not have to go through labor, but it made me a lot more nervous because I was totally aware of what was going on. Everything went well and Macy is perfectly healthy. She was 7 lbs. 12 oz. and 20 inches long. I think she looks a lot like Ellie did, but then again she is only a day old so we will see how she actually turns out. Anyway, here are some pictures of our sweet little girl.

We’ll be taking a lot more pictures in the next few days so I will update this soon I promise! Hopefully we can get Ellie to take a picture with her…she isn’t too interested in her right now though.

The Little Walker

No, Ellie is not walking, but she is getting closer. She is 21 months old tomorrow! Her physical therapist dropped off a little walker this morning and Ellie has become a pro at it. It was really frustrating for her at first, but once she saw her cousin do it, she was all about it. Above is a picture of her with her walker and below is a video of her showing off her skills. Sorry my voice is annoying, but a mom has to get excited for her 21 month old that is finally walking, right?? (Please excuse her crazy hair and grungy look. Her hair goes into a fro if you don’t do anything with it. It was one of those days today.) My friend, Jill, said that I should put tennis balls on the back wheels to make it slide easier, just like her grandma's. What do you think? :)

Does this mean I get to use a handicap pass to park in handicap spots??

We Did It!

It is Ellie's third night without her paci and so far things are going way better than I thought they were going to! We threw them away Friday night and that first night was the hardest. She went to bed late because we were out at dinner. After I finished rocking her and singing to her I went to put her in her crib. She just looked at my with a really sad face and said, "Uh oh." I'm not going to lie, it broke my heart a little because I felt bad that I all of the sudden took away something she has had since the day she was born. I kissed her and closed the door and she screamed/cried for about 15-20 minutes until she finally gave up and fell asleep. We have a video monitor so I was watching her to see what she was doing. It was sad because she was laying there making the sucking face like she had her paci, but there was nothing there. Poor girl. Anyway, she slept great that night, but woke up at 6:30 the next morning. She usually gets up around 8:30, but I think she didn't know how to go to sleep without her pacifiers.
Later that day she went down without any problems and slept for about 2 1/2 hours! Hallelujah! That night she went down without a problem too and slept until 8! Her naptime is usually around 11:30, but we didn't get home from church today until about 2:15, so going down for her nap was hard because she was way overtired. She eventually gave up the screaming and went to sleep for a couple of hours. Puting her to bed tonight was no problem at all. I must admit that it is sort of freeing to not have to worry about knowing where her pacifiers are at all times. I hope things continue to go as well as they have been!
Next thing to work on...going/staying in nursery!!

T Minus 4 Days!

Thanks everyone for your input on the pacifier. We are going to do it on Saturday. Greg wanted to do it yesterday, but I told him I need him there to help me just in case things get really crazy. I'm letting you all know so that I won't back out. So, Saturday it is! I'll let you all know how it goes. Wish me luck! (Hopefully you are all right and it will be harder for me than it is for Ellie!)

I Need Some Ideas...

Ellie is about 20 months old and still uses that stupid green soothie pacifier the hospital gives you. I try to only give it to her in the car and for when she sleeps. She has to have two when she sleeps, one to suck on and one to rub against her eye...weird I know. Anyway, she recently has figured out that if she goes up to her room she can reach into her crib and get them. I am really sick of them and want to throw them away, but I'm SCARED TO DEATH to do it. That's how she puts herself to sleep and I'm afraid it will be disastrous if we take them away. Also, I would like her to be completely done with them by the time the baby gets here so she doesn't relapse with the babe's pacies. :) Greg really wants to do it, but I need a major pep talk/advice on how to do it. What have you done to take away the paci and was it a horrible experience? Tell the truth!
