The Little Walker

No, Ellie is not walking, but she is getting closer. She is 21 months old tomorrow! Her physical therapist dropped off a little walker this morning and Ellie has become a pro at it. It was really frustrating for her at first, but once she saw her cousin do it, she was all about it. Above is a picture of her with her walker and below is a video of her showing off her skills. Sorry my voice is annoying, but a mom has to get excited for her 21 month old that is finally walking, right?? (Please excuse her crazy hair and grungy look. Her hair goes into a fro if you don’t do anything with it. It was one of those days today.) My friend, Jill, said that I should put tennis balls on the back wheels to make it slide easier, just like her grandma's. What do you think? :)

Does this mean I get to use a handicap pass to park in handicap spots??

We Did It!

It is Ellie's third night without her paci and so far things are going way better than I thought they were going to! We threw them away Friday night and that first night was the hardest. She went to bed late because we were out at dinner. After I finished rocking her and singing to her I went to put her in her crib. She just looked at my with a really sad face and said, "Uh oh." I'm not going to lie, it broke my heart a little because I felt bad that I all of the sudden took away something she has had since the day she was born. I kissed her and closed the door and she screamed/cried for about 15-20 minutes until she finally gave up and fell asleep. We have a video monitor so I was watching her to see what she was doing. It was sad because she was laying there making the sucking face like she had her paci, but there was nothing there. Poor girl. Anyway, she slept great that night, but woke up at 6:30 the next morning. She usually gets up around 8:30, but I think she didn't know how to go to sleep without her pacifiers.
Later that day she went down without any problems and slept for about 2 1/2 hours! Hallelujah! That night she went down without a problem too and slept until 8! Her naptime is usually around 11:30, but we didn't get home from church today until about 2:15, so going down for her nap was hard because she was way overtired. She eventually gave up the screaming and went to sleep for a couple of hours. Puting her to bed tonight was no problem at all. I must admit that it is sort of freeing to not have to worry about knowing where her pacifiers are at all times. I hope things continue to go as well as they have been!
Next thing to work on...going/staying in nursery!!

T Minus 4 Days!

Thanks everyone for your input on the pacifier. We are going to do it on Saturday. Greg wanted to do it yesterday, but I told him I need him there to help me just in case things get really crazy. I'm letting you all know so that I won't back out. So, Saturday it is! I'll let you all know how it goes. Wish me luck! (Hopefully you are all right and it will be harder for me than it is for Ellie!)

I Need Some Ideas...

Ellie is about 20 months old and still uses that stupid green soothie pacifier the hospital gives you. I try to only give it to her in the car and for when she sleeps. She has to have two when she sleeps, one to suck on and one to rub against her eye...weird I know. Anyway, she recently has figured out that if she goes up to her room she can reach into her crib and get them. I am really sick of them and want to throw them away, but I'm SCARED TO DEATH to do it. That's how she puts herself to sleep and I'm afraid it will be disastrous if we take them away. Also, I would like her to be completely done with them by the time the baby gets here so she doesn't relapse with the babe's pacies. :) Greg really wants to do it, but I need a major pep talk/advice on how to do it. What have you done to take away the paci and was it a horrible experience? Tell the truth!

Where to Begin?

So, I am the worst blogger, but I have a good excuse. I have been completely out of it for the past couple of months because I was SO sick with this baby. Thankfully, I am doing much better now. I’m starting to feel like I have my life back again! Another excuse is that I have THE WORLD’S SLOWEST COMPUTER!! Seriously I cannot stand my computer because it takes extra long to do everything. Finally, I decided enough was enough so now I’m using Greg’s computer…much better.

Well so much has happened in the past couple of months that I don’t even know where to begin. I’ve decided to post some pictures over the past couple of months because it is too overwhelming to try to write about everything.

So first things fist. HALLOWEEN. (Wow that is bad!) Ellie was a chicken and loved her costume. She wouldn’t cooperate with picture taking so this is the best we got. :)October-January 033

Next, Disneyland!! We went right before Thanksgiving with Greg’s brother, Eric, his wife, Kailee, and their son, Brody. Here is Ellie and Brody chillin in the double stroller together. October-January 037

And on to Christmas! My fabulous aunt, Shirl, invited Mark and Marie and Greg and I up to Idaho to spend Christmas with her family in a cozy cabin at Island Park. We had so much fun! October-January 046 October-January 048 October-January 056October-January 062   October-January 069 October-January 073 October-January 075 I love this picture because it was taken Christmas day after the kids had spent HOURS playing with all of their new stuff. I think it was around 2 or 3 in the afternoon and they are all still in their jammies!

We had a great Christmas with the Idaho Dyers! After Christmas my family came up to Utah for a few days to go skiing/snowboarding. It was so good to spend time with them. We wished Wes and Amber could have been there, but hopefully next time! I didn’t take too many pictures, but here is one of my dad, Ellie, and I watching everyone sledding. October-January 077

And the last thing happened tonight. We went over to Mark and Marie’s for ice cream and the girls were going crazy! Here they are enjoying some yummy ice cream. October-January 080 October-January 082  October-January 078

Wow…that is the last few months in a nutshell. Hopefully I will be better about updating this…maybe that should be my New Year’s resolution. Is it too late for that?

Oh, we find out what we are having on Monday morning so stay tuned for that!

Surprise!

Baby #2 is on the way! I'm due in the middle of June which means Ellie and baby #2 will be exactly 2 years apart! Lets just hope they don't have to share a birthday. :) I just have to give a huge shout out to all of the wonderful people around me for helping me over the last month. I have been really sick with this pregnancy and as people have found out they have helped me tremendously. I am so blessed with the wonderful people in my life...and a WONDERFUL husband for helping me with Ellie. Seriously, he pretty much does everything. Anyway, we are very excited, but I'm definitely glad I still have 6 more months because Ellie has to learn how to walk before the baby gets here!
